Dear AFA Flyballers,
I regret to inform you that our President Steve Pitt and his “right-hand woman” Vicki Kennelly (Treasurer, Editor, Co-webmaster and Supervisory Judge) have both recently resigned from the Australian Flyball Association Committee. Steve and Vicki have worked tirelessly for the sport of Flyball since its inception in Australia in about 1996. They have been our Association’s two gurus, as they have been involved since this time.
Flyball in Australia is at a huge loss, as both Steve and Vicki have worked tirelessly to promote and manage our sport. The fact that flyball has doubled the frequency of its competitions over the past three years and has become the fastest growing dog sport in Australia is testimony to Steve and Vicki’s input.
As the “new skipper” I will do my best to steer a smooth course for our association. I have been overwhelmed with friendly, positive support and have received numerous offers to assist the AFA. We will need every AFA member’s positive input to assist in keeping an “even keel” to keep advancing our sport.
The AFA conducted a special committee meeting on Monday 18 Jun 07 to appoint duties and ensure a smooth transition of the committee until the AGM 25 Aug 2007. Also, with the recent resignation of the Victorian Representative - Sheree Moore, a new committee has been appointed in line with the AFA constitution, as follows:
Glenn Pritchard President Kylie White Vice President Brian Lindsay Secretary Patricia Byrne Treasurer Terry Hunter Assistant Secretary Rosie Milton Assistant Secretary & Supervisory Judge Leoney Pritchard Assistant Secretary & Webmaster Ilona Van Galen Editor Jenny Millar General Position Clare Ellis General Position Les Scott General Position Justin Allen ACT –Regional Representative Joanne Drake NSW –Regional Representative Catherine Saberton SA –Regional Representative (VIC –Regional Representative has a vacancy) Dot Baverstock TAS–Regional Representative (QLD–Regional Representative has a vacancy) . As the AFA Annual General Meeting is quickly approaching and the new Treasurer and Secretary are situated in a new location to their predecessors. It has been necessary for the association to open a new postal address PO Box 4179 Pitt Town NSW 2756. The previous mailing address has a redirection in place, so hopefully all correspondence should end up at the correct destination. Official forms are in the process of being amended with the new address.
Please be aware that your Regional Representatives are still the first contact regarding AFA matters. If you have any concerns you may write to the AFA Secretary via PO Box 4179 Pitt Town NSW 2756. The Flyball OZ group chat is NOT an official means to communicate with the AFA Committee. The AFA will endeavour to ensure open lines of communication with our members. Collectively hundreds of hours have been spent in the last few weeks in managing the transition. We appreciate your patience while the committee take on new roles.
The AFA has many exciting projects which are yet to reach fruition. Flyball TV is one example. I thank the new Committee for their enthusiasm and commitment towards advancing our sport.
Yours sincerely
Glenn Pritchard AFA President.
