News- AFA Fee increases effective 2008

Under the AFA Constitution the AFA Committee has the responsibility for reviewing and establishing membership and other AFA fees . At the August and September Committee Meetings the Committee considered the AFA’s projected Budget position and reviewed the fees to apply in 2008.

The Committee noted the need to acquire further Signiture Light systems ( which cost over $15,000 each) and to upgrade the AFA Web page to make it interactive. These initiatives together with general cost increases led to the Committee concluding that there was a need to increase AFA fees. The decision was taken to put a maximum increase of $5 on any fee being adjusted and that the fee increases should generally apply from 1st July 2008.

The Committee has decided to introduce a small fee for Associate and Junior Members in view of the need to include these members in our Insurance cover.

The new fee structure (and comparative current fees) is shown below:

The increased fees will apply from the dates shown below:

New Member applications – from 1st April 2008 (as from that date the fee covers the period to 30th June 2009) ;

Renewals ( including renewal of Associate and Junior members) – from 2008/09 Renewal application;

Club affiliations – from 2008/09 renewals;

Competition Sanction and Lights Levies for all Competitions to take place on or after 1st July 2008.

The various AFA Forms will be updated closer to introduction dates.

The increased fees are estimated to generate an additional annual income of $7,500 – or the equivalent of half the cost of a Signature light set.
