Teams should be seeded based on the information supplied by the statistics coordinator. This information will be updated on a regular basis and listed on the AFA Seeding web page. Seeding times for a competition will be based on the fastest time recorded by a team during their last three sanctioned competitions and a seed list will be supplied from the latest available data on nominated close of entry date for each competition. [Amended 17th April, 2009 as per On Trial Rules # 9, new Rule will apply for Competitions with closing dates on or after 1st May 09]

Any time recorded more than 4 months before this date are declared null and void. A declared time, to be used as the seeding time, may be submitted by the team captain at least 14 days prior to the competition, to be accompanied by a written justification for the change in the section of the competition entry form, which may be referred to the committee.

A declared time may be submitted - if it is slower than the teams seeded time it must be at least 1 second slower than that time and is subject to the break-out rule.

This policy will be effective from 1st May, 2006.

Declared seed times (7 December, 2007)

The AFA Committee has recently been asked to clarify the situation where a Team notify a declared seed time which is actually faster than their time published on the web. One question was does the faster time have to be one second faster than the web time ( slower declared times have to be one second slower than the Web time to be accepted). The answer to this question is that any declared time that is faster than the Web time will be accepted – the one second difference does not apply to faster times.

The next question was where a declared faster time is submitted what is that teams breakout time. The answer is the breakout time is one second faster than the declared time –it is not subject to the Divisional breakout time.

Notification # 9 - Seed Times - amended date of application for web and declared seed times effective from 1st May 2009 as “on trial” Rules. - 17th April, 2009
Following discussion it was Moved that the AFA adopt an On Trial Rule that provided for seed times to be determines from Web on the closing date of the competition. This was seen as allowing clubs to check times at close date and hence know the seedtime that would apply for that competition. CARRIED.

Delete:
Section 1.4 (a) DELETE "14th day before the competition date"

Insert:
"nominated close of entry date for each competition".

Delete:
Section 1.4 (b) DELETE " at least 14 days prior to the"

Insert:
"on or before the close of entry date for each competition"
NT - No time recorded for this team in the last 4 months.

Notes: If teams have not competed in the last four months they will not appear in the above table.
